FAQ
Parents play a major role in supporting the child, hence, Dr Suetin endeavours to keep the parents well-informed and aware of what their child is experiencing and what is happening in the sessions, while maintaining a space where the child can open up and feel comfortable disclosing their personal thoughts and feelings.
Information that is provided by you and your child will not be revealed to external parties, however, Dr Suetin will have to disclose relevant information if she perceives significant threat to the child or another person. Confidential information may also be disclosed if the documents are subpoenaed by court. While a multidisciplinary approach to working with the child is encouraged, a formal consent will be obtained from parents or caregivers prior to sharing any information with other professionals involved in working with the child (e.g. GP or teacher).
A referral is not essential unless you wish to claim rebates from Medicare, in which case you will need to obtain a referral and a Mental Healthcare Plan from your GP.
